President's Column | January 2026

January is a time of fresh starts—but for many of us in dermatology, it can also feel like a whirlwind. Formularies shift, deductibles reset, and new coding changes loom on the horizon. It’s a lot. And if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, you’re not alone.

That’s why SDPA is here.

We know how much you carry into each new year—your patients, your teams, your families, your goals. And we’re committed to walking beside you with resources, advocacy, and connection to help you navigate what’s next. Whether it’s staying on top of policy changes, finding clarity in coding updates, or simply knowing you’re not in this alone, SDPA has your back.

As you think about your own New Year’s resolutions, I hope you’ll make space for one that’s often overlooked: taking care of you. That might mean finally using every dollar of your CME allowance. It might mean blocking off those PTO and CME days you’ve earned. Or maybe it’s saying yes to something that fills your cup—like joining us in Denver this June or Hollywood, Florida this November for one of our 2026 conferences. We’d love to see you there.

And if you’re still on the fence about setting a resolution, here’s a little nudge: while only 9% of Americans actually keep their New Year’s resolutions, I believe the magic is in the trying. In putting your intention out there. In saying, “This year, I’m going to advocate for myself.” That’s one of my goals for 2026. I hope you’ll try it too.

Here’s to a year of growth, grace, and good boundaries. You’ve got this—and we’ve got you.

With warmth and resolve,
Sarah Vicari
