President's Column | December 2025
As we come off the gratitude and gravy of Thanksgiving—full bellies, full hearts—I’ve been reflecting on how traditions evolve. This year, my boys have officially stopped believing in Santa. It’s a shift, for sure. But I’m learning that magic doesn’t disappear—it just changes shape.
We still decorate the tree with our beloved ornaments, each one a tiny snapshot of holidays past. I may be off elf duty, but it is still my job to keep the traditions alive. Winter’s settled in here in Wisconsin, so it’s officially time to grab a blanket, put on the fire, and cue up “It’s a Wonderful Life” (again).
As we wrap up the year and celebrate all we’re thankful for, let’s not forget the incredible people who keep our practices running smoothly: our medical assistants and biologic coordinators. They’re the heartbeat of our clinics, and they deserve a little extra cheer.
Here are a few easy, meaningful ways to show your appreciation:
• A heartfelt thank-you note — never underestimate the power of being seen and appreciated.
• A small gift card — even $10–$20 can cover a cozy lunch, a coffee run, or a treat they wouldn’t buy for themselves.
• A seasonal snack or treat — homemade or store-bought, it’s the gesture that counts.
• A team shoutout — recognize them publicly in your clinic or newsletter.
In a year where every dollar counts, it’s not about how much you spend—it’s about how much you care. The best gifts remind people they matter. And that’s something we can all afford to give.
As we close out the year, let’s take a moment to honor the many ways our SDPA community celebrates this season. Whether you’re lighting candles for Hanukkah, decorating for Christmas, observing Kwanzaa, celebrating the Winter Solstice, ringing in the New Year, or simply soaking in the quiet beauty of winter—this is a time to gather, reflect, and connect with the people who matter most.
In a world that moves fast, these moments of celebration—big or small—remind us of what truly matters: love, laughter, tradition, and togetherness.
From my family to yours, and from all of us at SDPA, thank you for the heart you bring to your work and to our community. May your season be filled with warmth, wonder, and just the right amount of magic.
Warmly and gratitude and cheer,
Sarah Vicari
President, SDPA
