President’s Message | July 2022

Summer. A time when most are celebrating the middle of the year and enjoying well deserved vacations with family and friends, sunshine is plentiful, and a laid-back vibe is in the air. With my teacher husband and oldest son out of school for the summer, my normally hectic daily routine is replaced with a much more relaxed feel. No nightly squabbles about bedtime or completing homework and mornings running late are replaced with sleeping in and carefree days. I agree with one of my favorite musicians when he describes this time of year as “sweet summertime”.

Though summer is a reward for making it halfway through the year, here at SDPA, July marks the beginning of the new leadership year. Next week we will meet at our annual leadership summit to discuss goals and develop an execution plan for the coming year.

I have looked forward to assuming the role of President for over a year now. From the day the election results were announced, I began plotting my goals for our organization for the coming year, excitedly awaiting July 1 and the opportunity to begin working toward them.

This year, I’ll strive to get back to the fundamentals while at the same time, building on the momentum and successes of the previous year. You, the membership, are the foundation of our organization and basis of our mission and future success. I aim to ensure that you are provided the highest standard of educational opportunities, professional development tools and member benefits that will allow you to best serve your patients and gain personal fulfillment. My goal is for SDPA to continue to be the leader and gold standard in education, while offering new ways to help you grow as a PA, professional, and individual.

So, enjoy the “sweetness” of summer, knowing that while you do, I and the entire SDPA leadership are hard at work for you and the patients you serve.

Yours truly,

Lauren Miller, MPAS, PA-C

President SDPA
