President’s Message | June 2022

Dear Colleagues,
June is Acne Awareness Month, and it is an opportune time to focus on the DermPA™ community’s role in managing this complex condition. We are often on the front lines of treating patients with acne, providing the time and education to help improve their health, both physical and mental, as we know how acne contributes to emotional strain.
As DermPAs, we pride ourselves on truly listening to patients’ concerns so that we can guide them to better acne management and self-confidence. Building a rapport with any patient takes time, and we must invest that time to establish a relationship that leads to trust. Building patient relationships and long-lasting alliances are important to our profession. This thought leads me to SDPA leadership, which I have been a part of for over a decade.
My passion for our profession has become more robust and profound with my service over the past 10 years. I have learned to value patience and trust and continue to have faith in SDPA’s previous leaders. I support our efforts to guide professionals and to respect each other. After all, this is what makes us stronger. As I depart my position as SDPA President, I will keep the momentum going to improve and expand the DermPA profession by continuing to volunteer. As new leaders emerge at the SDPA, I know they will carry the torch of our success.
These past 12 months have been extraordinary to me; I have had the chance to meet so many of you. Please know I have been genuinely inspired by what you do to improve our profession. I also want to thank all of you for entrusting me to lead the SDPA this past year. It was indeed an honor. It is a moment of sadness but genuine excitement about what is coming next. Stay tuned because I am just getting started!
With you and for you,

Renata Block, MMS, PA-C SDPA President
