President’s Message | May 2022

Dear Colleagues,
The month of May symbolizes growth, and as we all know, it is also Skin Cancer Awareness Month. As DermPAs™ practice across the country, we are on the front lines of diagnosing Melanoma and NMSC in our patients. Our days are full of body scans and patient education about the disease and how to prevent it. The difference we all make is significant, and we are often responsible for saving a life; that turns into many lives during our careers!
As a Physician Assistant practicing in a specialty such as dermatology, it is no wonder that DermPAs™ hardly ever transition into another branch of medical practice. However, because of this passion for our career, the SDPA exists, so we offer stellar education for our members to keep abreast of new treatments and management of dermatological diseases.
And with that said, I am looking forward to the SDPA Annual Summer Dermatology Conference June 16-19; I cannot wait for you to experience the new CME experience we offer so you can expand your knowledge and GROW!
The CME team dedicates thousands of hours recruiting the best speakers and developing educational tracks so you can customize the conference to your specific needs. However, if it is difficult to choose which session to attend, don't worry because sessions are recorded and will be available after the conference.
This will be our first 100% live conference since the pandemic, and it will be great to see everyone in person! You will get to mingle with the new leaders who will continue the positive growth the organization has seen this past year.
We have exciting events planned just for you to celebrate how amazing you are and a chance to give back to the Austin community by donating blood. So please make sure you plan your dress code for the events accordingly to make the most out of your Austin, Texas, experience with the SDPA. I cannot wait to see you!
With you and for you,

Renata Block, MMS, PA-C SDPA President
