President’s Message | January 2022

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to 2022! I hope the New Year brings you good health, and your dreams are starting to take flight. The SDPA has a busy schedule planned for 2022, highlighted by conferences in Austin, Texas, June 16-19, 2022, and Miami, Florida, November 17-20, 2022, along with a new rollout of Distance Medical Education opportunities.

It is great to kick off the New Year by drawing your attention to the recent U.S. News & World Report annual 100 Best Jobs release. For the second year in a row, Physician Assistants ranked 3rd in the list of Top 100 jobs based on growth potential, salary, and work-life balance. Nurse Practitioners ranked 2nd behind Information Security Analysts.

The report is a tremendous recognition for our field, projected to grow substantially during the next 10 years. The SDPA will always be at the center of this growth, empowering, educating, and advancing Physician Assistants to ensure they perform at superior levels. I am proud to have all of you a part of it!

This year, the SDPA is expanding its conference experience. Registration is open for the SDPA Annual Summer Dermatology Conference in Austin, Texas. This summer’s program consists of four tracks that offer in-depth discussions and learning opportunities suitable for attendees at various career levels.

  • Foundations in Dermatology (less than five years of experience)
  • Advanced Dermatology (more than five years of experience)
  • Specialty Topics in Dermatology
  • Professional Development

The deadline for early-bird registration is Monday, Feb. 21 – President’s Day. So register now and take advantage of the discounted rate.

February 21 is also the deadline to complete your online membership survey located here: SDPA 2022 Membership Survey.  We shape our programming, products, and other offerings based on your responses, so it is very important to tell us what you need from SDPA. The survey should take around six to seven minutes to complete, and if you add your contact information at the end of the survey, your name will be entered into a drawing for one of three $50 Amazon gift cards.

Thank you for your membership and support, and, most of all, I look forward to continuing the conversation with you throughout the year.  I hope to have the opportunity to meet many of you in person in 2022.  As always, I want to hear from you, so please feel free to reach out to me at rblock@dermpa.net for any questions, comments, and how we can make SDPA even better than it already is!

With you and for you,

Renata Block, MMS, PA-C
