President's Message | November 2021

Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the end of the year, it’s incumbent upon me to remind you of two important points: first, have a safe and Happy Holiday Season, and second, consider kicking off 2022 by volunteering your time to SDPA! Dermatology PAs are among the most intelligent, generous people I’ve ever met, so I know there are many of you out there who would be tremendous assets to SDPA’s Board of Directors and committees.
SDPA is your association, and its success is tied to the strength and volunteerism of its members. Partnering with other Derm PAs outside of the clinic presents an exciting opportunity to improve the programs, education offerings, and conferences managed by SDPA. Everyone who volunteers with SDPA has a voice valued amongst their peers, other healthcare professionals, and the staff. We are always looking for new ideas – and you could be our missing link to a breakthrough program, session, or event that takes us to the next level!
I’m sure most of you know that volunteering is one way of relieving stress and increasing positive, relaxing emotions by focusing on something or someone outside of your daily routine. Not only that, as a volunteer, you will develop leadership skills, learn new information, and meet great new people. So, if you want to build your career and enhance your professional relationships, volunteering with SDPA is the easiest way to do it!
So, while you enjoy your turkey or savor the taste of mashed potatoes with gravy on Thanksgiving Day, give some thought to making a difference in 2022 by volunteering with SDPA, the only organization that gives back to your profession. I cannot wait to see what you can do!
With you and for you,
Renata Block, MMS, PA-C
SDPA President
