President's Message | July 2020

Dear Colleagues -
Every July is an exciting time for your SDPA leadership team. We begin new leadership appointments each July. I am honored to serve you alongside a fantastic group of dynamic and motivated volunteer leaders. You may recall this past May, we put out a “Call for Volunteers”. That call was successful and we have many new committee members that have joined our leadership team this year.
We are a Society led by Dermatology PAs for Dermatology PAs. Your perspective is important. Often times, members ask me “How can I get involved?” I want to take a moment to outline those steps. First, ask yourself what are you passionate about? Is it PA legislation? Is it professional development? Is it education? The list can be varied. Next, narrow it down to your top one or two interests. Then, take a look at our standing committees. Which one(s) most resonate with your interests? Last, reach out to the Committee Chair(s), ask what projects you can assist with. It’s as simple as that.
I hope that simple outline encourages you to take a step toward becoming a volunteer leader. Eight years ago, when I first began in SDPA leadership, it was because a leader reached out to me to get involved. Today, I am calling on each of you to find what motivates you and take a step forward to get involved- whether it’s in your local communities, state chapters or within the SDPA. If we are going to grow as a profession, we need to show that we are leaders not only in the clinic but in our communities, states and the nation. Here’s to leading well together.
With you and for you,

Archana Sangha, MMS, PA-C
