President's Message | September 2019

Dear Colleagues -

Labor Day and September mark the end of the summer and the beginning of my favorite season, Fall.  The autumn months bring beautiful foliage, kids back in school, and cooler temperatures.  As many of us begin to experience colder weather, we invite you to enjoy one last blast of comfortable temperatures at the 17th Annual SDPA Fall Dermatology Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.  We will be hosting a preconference day focusing on aesthetic and cosmetic topics and procedures, followed by 3 ½ days of excellent dermatological education content for all attendees.  As of today, the conference is shaping up to be our greatest attendance ever!

Speaking of cosmetics, the final module of the Diplomate Fellowship, Module 21, is expected to be launched and available by the end of this month or early in October.  This long-anticipated module focuses on laser procedures, neurotoxins and fillers, along with noninvasive procedures.  I’d like to extend a special thank you to the PA authors and editors who worked so hard over the last many weeks to make this happen. Now that the Diplomate Fellowship program is complete, we will begin working on accrediting the program.  Stay tuned for our progress on this important effort.

And finally, I am pleased to report the official launch of the SDPA’s new online community forum called “Connect.”  This hallmark achievement in September will allow members to freely chat and discuss topics and cases involving dermatology PAs and our profession. I’m encouraged by the level of member participation this first week, and I look forward to ongoing discussions on a great variety of topics.  Don’t miss out on the conversations and sign up today for SDPA Connect!

Sincerely,

Gina D. Mangin, MPAS, PA-C
SDPA President
