Erin Ranaweera, PA-C

Erin Ranaweera, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Associate specializing in medical and procedural dermatology, with a passion for skin cancer prevention, early detection, and advancing the PA profession through leadership and advocacy. She currently serves as the Commander of the U.S. Air Force's busiest outpatient clinic, leading a multidisciplinary healthcare team while serving as the clinic's primary dermatology consultant.

Before entering medicine, Erin served as a Public Affairs Officer, leading strategic communication initiatives, advising senior leaders, and collaborating with congressional offices, community partners, and national media. That experience sparked her passion for advocacy and continues to shape her work representing physician associates at both the state and national levels.

After completing the SDPA Diplomate Fellowship, she expanded her focus on provider education and mentorship, helping Physician Associate students and fellow clinicians build confidence in dermatologic diagnosis, procedural skills, and skin cancer recognition. She is passionate about ensuring providers in every specialty are equipped to recognize common dermatologic conditions and identify skin cancers at their earliest, most treatable stages.

Erin recently published peer-reviewed research in the Journal of Dermatology for Physician Associates on novel intralesional therapies for advanced melanoma. She believes advocacy, education, and collaboration are essential to expanding access to high-quality dermatologic care and protecting the future of the PA profession. As a member of the SDPA House of Delegates, she looks forward to representing dermatology PAs while advancing policies that strengthen the profession and improve patient care nationwide.
