Leadership Team

The SDPA is run by a dedicated team of volunteer leaders working within the field of dermatology. The board of directors (BOD) is the SDPA governing body and is assisted by a number of committees each with their own charge as appointed by the BOD. A member meeting is held twice a year at the SDPA’s two annual conferences where the BOD updates the membership on the society’s activities and projects.

Board of Directors

The board of directors is composed of nine elected individuals: President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Treasurer/Secretary, Vice President, and four Directors At Large. A board of director term of office begins July 1st each year and concludes June 30th of the following year.

President – Gina Mangin, MPAS, PA-C

Gina has been a PA for twenty years, since graduating from East Carolina University PA program in 1999. She has been practicing dermatology for eleven years although has past experience in gastroenterology and neurosurgery. Currently, she is working at Sand Lake Dermatology Center in Orlando, Florida. She has been active in the SDPA since 2012 beginning as a Distance CME Committee member then becoming a board member serving as secretary/treasurer and director at large.   In the past, Gina has also been involved with the Florida Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (FSDPA) and has served numerous roles, including President, Vice President, and CME Chair. Her leadership roles with the SDPA and FSDPA have allowed her to give back to her colleagues and help further the profession of dermatology PAs.  

 


 

President Elect – Archana Sangha. MMS, PA-C

Archana has been in SDPA leadership since 2012. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Towson University and went on to earn her Masters in Medical Science and Physician Assistant Studies from Salus University. Prior to being elected as President-Elect, Archana has served as Secretary/Treasurer, Director at Large and Membership Committee Co-Chair. She enjoys practicing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology in Maryland and Northern Virginia. She has a passion for medical missions and philanthropic work. 

 

 

 


 

Vice President – Renata Block, MMS, PA-C

Renata was born and raised in Chicago, IL and has been specializing in dermatology since 2003. She became active in her state affiliate in 2009 and served as President of the Illinois Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (ISDPA) from 2010 - 2013. From 2013-2017 Renata served as the SDPA Constituent Relations Chair to assist other states to form affiliates with the SDPA. She currently serves as a Director At Large on the SDPA Board. Renata has a Masters in Medical Science in Physician Assistant studies from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL. Before beginning her education as a Physician Assistant, she received an undergraduate degree with honors in Biology/Pre-Med with dual minors in Chemistry and Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. She believes being active in leadership is important to educate the public on the importance of dermatology PAs and the role they play in healthcare.

 


 

Sara Wilchowski

Secretary/Treasurer - Sara Wilchowski, MS, PAC

Sara was born and raised in Michigan, has been an SDPA member since 2010. She completed her undergraduate degree at Eastern Michigan University. There she was a varsity gymnast and president of the exercise science organization. She then went on to receive her masters from Wayne State University and graduated magna cum laude. Her involvement in leadership began as a student. She was a member of the Student Affairs Committee before transitioning into the Recent Graduate Advisor position. Following that role she served as the Membership Committee Co-Chair from 2014-2017 and Constituent Relations Chair from 2017-2018. Sara founded the Michigan Affiliate Chapter of the SDPA and served as the inaugural President. Sara is involved in leadership because she has a passion for advancing the PA profession.

 


 

Immediate Past President – Joleen Volz, DMSc, PA-C, DFAPPA

Joleen, originally from Upstate New York, lived in North Carolina for 12 years prior to transplanting to the downtown Fort Worth area of Texas. She obtained her first degrees in AAS Criminal Justice in 1994. Following that she obtained her Bachelor of Physician Assistant Studies in 2003 from East Carolina University and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from University of Nebraska at Omaha with a dermatology focus. Prior to becoming a PA, Joleen was a correctional officer and EMT. Joleen joined SDPA leadership as the Constituent Relations Chair in 2009. She served as the Treasurer/Secretary for four years before being elected to the position of President-Elect and now serves as the President. For Joleen, being involved in SDPA leadership allows her to give back to a society which has had such an impact on the growth of the profession of dermatology PAs.

 


 

Director At Large – Amber Blair, MMS, PA-C

Amber has a unique and diverse background in healthcare spanning greater than a decade. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida’s CardioPulmonary Science Program, and proceeded to work in the NICU, then went on to graduate Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University’s Masters in Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies program. Upon completion of this program, she quickly found her home in dermatology and hasn’t looked back! Amber currently resides and practices in Winter Park, Florida, alongside a fellowship trained MOHS surgeon. While she has a passion for skin cancer surgery, she thrives on running a high-volume practice of medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Additionally, she holds the Director at Large position for the Florida Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (FSDPA), is an adjunctive professor for Nova Southeastern University’s Physician Assistant program, serves as a preceptor for Physician Assistant students interested in dermatology and holds a seat on the MAUI Derm NP/PA conference scientific advisory board. In 2016, Amber became actively involved in the SDPA, working as the host of Dermcast TV, and enjoys the opportunity to meet with and interview key opinion leaders in the industry. Amber is truly passionate about her patients and the field of dermatology, and believes in the power and importance of giving back.

 


 

Director At Large – Lauren Miller, MPAS, PA-C

 

Lauren has been a member of the SDPA since 2009. This is her first role with the SDPA Board of Directors.

Lauren, born in Colorado, was raised in Alabama. She graduated summa cum laude from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in both Chemistry and Biology. She then went on to graduate from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. Lauren has been practicing as a physician assistant for over 10 years, all spent in the field of Dermatology.

Lauren currently practices in Gadsden, Alabama at Dermatology Specialists of Alabama. She has spent the last 10 years developing a deep passion for conditions such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. She is a speaker for companies in the pharmaceutical industry and enjoys sharing her knowledge with and teaching colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Lauren is honored to be a founding member of the Alabama Society of Dermatology Professionals, the first society representing Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners practicing in dermatology in the state of Alabama. She serves as the Pharmaceutical Liaison on the Board of Directors. She is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

 


 

Director At Large – Francine Phillips, MPAS, PA-C

Francine, born and raised in Florida, is a dermatology Physician Assistant at Florida Medical Clinic in Land O' Lakes. She received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at A.T. Still University in Arizona. Francine initially became involved with the SDPA through her participation on the Membership Committee, eventually serving as Co-Chair and then Chair. Francine assumed her first term as Director At Large on July 1, 2019. Francine is involved in leadership because she feels it is a way to give back to the profession she loves. She enjoys running, playing the piano, CrossFit and spending time with her husband, son, Labrador Retrievers and her Alpaca.

 

 

 


 

Director At Large – Hannah Rodriguez, MPAS, PA-C

Hannah is a certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She continued her graduate education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX where she earned her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and served as the Vice President of her PA class. Upon graduating, she and her husband moved to Philadelphia where she specializes in medical dermatology at Pennsylvania Dermatology Partners.

 

Hannah formerly served as the Legislative Affairs Committee Chair for the SDPA where she helped constituent organizations to promote optimal team practice and organized a day on Capitol Hill to advocate for the Dermatology PA profession. She currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Dermatology Physician Assistants (PDPA) and is looking forward to her new role as Director-at-Large where she plans to work toward accomplishing the SDPAs Strategic Plan while supporting the other members of the board.
