About SDPA Volunteer Leadership

With nearly 4,000 members, SDPA provides dynamic leadership for dermatology physician assistants across the nation. SDPA Committee volunteers play an invaluable role and the contributions they make impact the day-to-day work of SDPA, as well as shape the future of the dermatology physician assistant profession.

The 2020-21 Call to Volunteers Survey is available here! Please complete by May 30, 2020. Only fully completed applications which include committee selections and a copy of your CV will be considered.

Application Timeline

Applications for the 2020‒21 term opens April 15. Below is a general timeline of when selections are completed and candidates are notified each year.

  • April: Board of Directors elected
  • June: Committee members appointed (all candidates are contacted whether selected or not)

There are many ways you can get involved with SDPA. Whether you are an experienced leader or just entering the field of dermatology, there is a place for you at SDPA.


  • Contribute or write for the JDPA.
  • Serve as an SDPA conference session presenter.
  • Become an SDPA distance learning instructor.


  • Join your state affiliate chapter today!
  • Recruit new members at your practice or in your area and earn rewards.
  • Attend local events to share your best practices and solutions.
  • Support the development and execution of programs, events, and local PA and team training.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: When does the Call for Volunteers take place?

A: Applications usually open April 15. All SDPA members will receive notification via email when the Call for Volunteers is open.

Q: How does the process work?

A: Once the Call for Volunteers is open, members can apply directly for a committee position  through the Call to Volunteer survey. The survey stays open for several weeks, then closes to allow time for appointments to be made prior to July 1. All nominees are notified either way via email a few weeks later, and new committee members begin their appointments July 1. Committee meetings commence after the annual Leadership Retreat.
