Leadership Team

The SDPA is run by a dedicated team of volunteer leaders working within the field of dermatology. The board of directors (BOD) is the SDPA governing body and is assisted by a number of committees each with their own charge as appointed by the BOD. A member meeting is held twice a year at the SDPA’s two annual conferences where the BOD updates the membership on the society’s activities and projects.

Board of Directors

The board of directors is composed of nine elected individuals: President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Treasurer/Secretary, Vice President, and four Directors At Large. A board of director term of office begins July 1st each year and concludes June 30th of the following year.

President – Jane Mast MPAS, PA-C

Jane Mast grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where she graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in Biochemistry. She then moved to Florida to attend the University of Florida School of Medicine for Physician Assistant studies. She has been practicing Dermatology at Space Coast Dermatology in Merritt Island, FL for the last 14 years. She has served on the SDPA Judicial and Ethical Affairs Committee for 4 years, as Legislative Committee Chair for 3 years and was a Director at Large for over a year before taking a position as President-Elect. She now serves as the current President of the SDPA. She has a passion for advancing the PA profession and is grateful to be a part of the great work the SDPA is accomplishing.

President-Elect – Joleen Volz MPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA

Joleen Volz, originally from Upstate New York, lived in North Carolina for 12 years prior to transplanting to the downtown Fort Worth area of Texas. She obtained her first degrees in AAS Criminal Justice in 1994. Following that she obtained her Bachelor of Physician Assistant Studies in 203 from East Carolina University and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from University of Nebraska at Omaha with a dermatology focus. Prior to becoming a PA, Joleen was a correctional officer and EMT. Joleen joined SDPA leadership as the Constituent Relations Chair in 2009. She served as the Treasurer/Secretary for four years before being elected to the position of President-Elect. For Joleen, being involved in SDPA leadership allows her to give back to a society which has had such an impact on the growth of the profession of dermatology PAs.

Immediate Past President – Jennifer Conner MPAS, PA-C

Jennifer M. Conner, MPAS, PA-C grew up Indiana and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Marian University in Indianapolis in 2003. Following her undergraduate education, she attended the U.S Army Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston and earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2006 from the University of Nebraska. She served in the US Army National Guard for 11 years as a Medical Specialist Corps officer and battalion physician assistant. Jennifer began her career as a PA in dermatology in 2006. Jennifer has been involved in SDPA leadership since 2009 and is honored to give back to the SDPA in honor of those who paved the way for the PA profession and the patients we serve. She has served 3 years as Public Education Committee Chair, 3 years as Director at Large, 1 year as President, and is currently the Immmediate Past President. Jennifer also serves as a founding trustee for the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF). She is an active volunteer for the Melanoma Research Foundation and has led the SDPA Miles for Melanoma program and philanthropic activities since 2012. Outside of practicing dermatology and serving the SDPA, Jennifer enjoys travel, running, baking, and spending time with her husband and three children.

Vice President – John Notabartolo, MPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA

John Notabartolo graduated from the Interservice PA Program through University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1998. He served 21 years active duty in the US Air Force and has been actively participating in nonprofit leadership for the past 20 years. John has been President of the Society of Air Force PAs and the SDPA. He has also held numerous volunteer and elected positions within those organizations as well as within the AAPA. During the past year, John held the position of Legislative Affairs Committee Chair in the SDPA, prior to being elected as the Vice Chair. John also served on the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF) as a founding Board of Trustee member and specifically as Chair of the Foundation from 2016-2017.

Treasurer/Secretary – Gina Mangin MPAS, PA-C

Gina Mangin, MPAS, PA-C has been a PA for fifteen years, since graduating from East Carolina University PA program in 1999. She has been practicing dermatology for seven years although has past experience in gastroenterology and neurosurgery. Currently, she is working at Sand Lake Dermatology Center in Orlando, Florida. She has been active in the SDPA since 2012 as a Distance CME Committee member and currently sits on the Board of Directors as the Treasurer/Secretary. Prior to taking on the role of Treasurer/Secretary, Gina served as a Director At Large. In the past, Gina has also been involved with the Florida Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (FSDPA) and has served numerous roles, including President, Vice President, and CME Chair. Her leadership roles with the SDPA and FSDPA have allowed her to give back to her colleagues and help further the profession of dermatology PAs.

Director At Large – Archana Sangha MMS, PA-C

Archana Sangha, currently living in Silver Spring Maryland has been involved in SDPA leadership since 2012. Having graduated from Salus University in Elkins Park, PA, Archana practices cosmetic and surgical dermatology. She has a passion of medical missions and philanthropic work. Prior to serving as a Director At Large on the board, Archana served as the Membership Committee Co-Chair in charge of retention efforts. She first joined the leadership team because she wanted to give back to a profession that have given so much in return to her.

Director At Large – Travis M. Hayden MPAS, PA-C

Travis Hayden, MPAS, PA-C is a Board-Certified PA working in dermatology in beautiful Upstate New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at Le Moyne College with a degree in biology. Upon graduating he was awarded enrollment into the U.S. Navy’s Health Services Collegiate Program. Through the program he received his formal training as a physician assistant (PA) at the Sisters of Charity Medical Center of Staten Island, New York. He then proudly served on active duty as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Navy, working as a PA in military and family medicine. During his time in the Navy, he completed his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from the University of Nebraska. Since completing his tour in the Navy in 2003, he has been employed with Dermatology Associates of Rochester. Travis served as the SDPA Publications & Communications Committee Chair from 2005-2017. In 2017 he become a Director At Large on the SDPA Board. In 2007 he became the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dermatology for Physician Assistants (JDPA), the official journal of the SDPA. Travis also serves as a founding Board of Trustee member of the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF). Travis’s passion for medical education, teaching, and helping the under-served is rooted in his firm belief that, "whether with students, our peers, or with our patients…only good can come from the sharing of our medical knowledge."

Director At Large – Martha Sikes MS, RPh, PA-C

Martha Sikes attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1997. She then practiced Pharmacy as a staff clinical pharmacist at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin, Georgia for several years. Feeling the need to provide more comprehensive patient care, she attended Medical College of Georgia (now Augusta University) where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies in 2002. She received her Masters of Science degree from A. T. Still University in 2012. Martha began her dermatology PA career in 2002 and has extensive experience in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. In 2012, she accepted a full-time faculty appointment at Mercer University Department of Physician Assistant Studies where she also serves as the Academic Coordinator. She continues to practice medical dermatology part-time in addition to her teaching duties. Martha Sikes has been a member of SDPA since 2002. In 2015 she began serving as the Blog Moderator. She continues in this role in addition to being a Director At Large. Martha feels that being involved in a leadership position is an excellent way to increase awareness of the exceptional care, knowledge, and clinical skills PAs provide to the medical community. She also actively serves in the Georgia Dermatology Physician Assistants, Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and serves as a committee member for the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee to the Georgia Composite Medical Board. She currently lives in Tyrone, Georgia.

Director At Large – Renata Block MHS, PA-C

Renata was born and raised in Chicago, IL and has been specializing in dermatology since 2003. She became active in her state affiliate in 2009 and served as President of the Illinois Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (ISDPA) from 2010 - 2013. From 2013-2017 Renata served as the SDPA Constituent Relations Chair to assist other states to form affiliates with the SDPA. She currently serves as a Director At Large on the SDPA Board. Renata has a Masters in Medical Science in Physician Assistant studies from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL. Before beginning her education as a Physician Assistant, she received an undergraduate degree with honors in Biology/Pre-Med with dual minors in Chemistry and Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. She believes being active in leadership is important to educate the public on the importance of dermatology PAs and the role they play in healthcare.
